Day 41 - Runaway (The Corrs)
Irish sibling band the Corrs brought a unique sound to the nineties, and even had a pretty big hit with Breathless, but the song of theirs that I love is Runaway. To me it sounds like romance, with the lullaby quality of the strings and guitars. The lead sister’s voice is ripe with yearning. I love the chord changes of the violin at the end of the song; it’s subtle but noticeable enough. I also love the vocal scatting Andrea leaves us with as the song drifts off to a dreamy end. This song was on one of the many 4-track tapes as I folded and refolded sweaters and jeans back in the days of Structure, before Mary died, before I lost faith in life and humanity, so when I listen to it now it reminds me of a softer, less reality-based time.
