Day 11 - The Look Of Love (ABC)

Talk about one of the most definitive songs of the 1980s. When you do, surely ABC’s The Look Of Love will come to mind. Poppy, bouncy and upbeat, this is a song that will always make me feel better the second it comes on the radio, no matter my mood. I just can’t with this song. It’s brilliant. I don’t care how ridiculous the video is, the song is perfection. And in a time when I was still that tortured closet gay tard, I remember first hearing it when I worked in the kitchen at a restaurant; one of the waiters would come back and sing this to me, never knowing I secretly pined for him. He had slick dark hair, a south Jersey accent, and smelled like too much cologne, but he was beautiful and noticed me and sang to me. As if it were yesterday, I can close my eyes and feel him come up behind me and sing I quit that job after 2 days. That’s how deep in the closet I was.
