Day 8 - Waiting For A Star To Fall (Boy Meets Girl)

There’s something beautiful and innocent about this song, and many other pop ballads like it from 1988. I love so much of the music from 87 to89 (aka the VH1 era) because it reminds me of a tumultuous time, where I could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Living in Aurora’s basement, having the refuge of Kenny and Cristine. and the love of Jan and Linda and Jayne and Ellen. All wonderful things, tethering me to reality with a rope that felt secure and strong. Waiting For A Star To Fall is classic late eighties: gratuitous saxophone, pop synths accompanied by a male female duet-like vocal. Lead singer with long, wild blond hair, ingénue all bouncy and coy and shit. This song reminds me of everything beautiful about that moment in time. And all those amazing people who were (and still are) my lifeline.
