Imagine, if you will, that it’s 1976 again. You get up feeling a little groggy, and fumble your way into the dark kitchen as the sun hasn’t quite risen yet outside. You go through the motions of preparing the coffee pot, gently putting the percolator on the front jet and turning on the gas, and you switch on the radio, which is already tuned to W.G.B.B. The voice you suddenly hear is happy and the music is peppy. Before long, you’re grooving from side to side in your bathrobe and slippers, and you begin to realize that today is going to be a good day. That’s You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, by Leo Sayer, who looks like Richard Simmons, and could be a long lost Bee Gee. His song is infectious and definitive of its time. It’s not even really that great a song, but it makes me smile. Great lyrics, happy upper range male voice that could have easily been a woman’s. It always makes me feel like dancing! And it reminds me of my Ellen, so there’s always that extra tidbit of joy. Join IN!
