Who’s Crying Now (Journey) - Day 13
There is so much I love about, Who’s Crying Now, by eighties super-group Journey. First, and obviously foremost, the silken delight that is the voice of Steve Perry. In my opinion, one of the best male voices ever recorded. Perfect as the front man of a rock band, perfect as a solo balladeer. I also love the piano, mixed with the bass guitar, making a sound so unique and enthralling to me. Best part of the song though, is the ending jam-out. If it could go on eternally, I’d be okay with listening to it. 3 minutes, 28 seconds in, it’s just a beautiful guitar and drum and you can close your eyes and be transported to outer space, man. Much like the very end of Hotel California, I literally crank my volume to the highest it goes at this point of the song and just swoon. Such a great song, transcendent of time. And space.
