Day 2 - Say (John Mayer)

Another song by the dazzlingly talented John Mayer. Say is such a beautiful, melancholy song, with really, the only message that matters in this life. Lest we are left with regret, it’s best to just say what need to say. I don’t think I need to say much more about the voice of John Mayer. He is one of my favorites for all the reasons. I wrote about him in last year’s countdown, and the sentiment remains the same: Mayer is one of my favorite artists to emerge from this shitty new millennium. Along with a voice like a male angel, he is a brilliant musician. Sidebar: This hearkens to another intense, classic cautionary ballad from 1989, the year my father was diagnosed with cancer. The Living Years, by Mike and The Mechanics. Talk about songs being released exactly when I need to hear them; re: Who Knew by P!nk in 2006. I don’t think I even have to speak more about the lyrics of this song. Just listen to it. Don’t have regrets; tell them you love them, and do it now.
