Day 6 - Suedehead (Morrissey)
Morrissey is one of those artists that doesn’t really need an intro. He’s theatrical, and his silky voice is like that of a Siren, drawing you into whatever madness he’s singing about. With Suedehead, he makes a break up sound amazingly symphonic, and he goes on and on about what a good lay it was. I mean, who else can get away with singing about the great sex they’ve made with an ex, while making it sound peppy and mesmerizingly full of glee? Morrissey’s voice lent itself to another song in my first countdown 3 years ago, a song that still, to this moment, resonates to my core. (HINT: The title is embroidered on a bath rug at the start of this video!) This man’s voice is a treasure. I challenge you to listen to Suedehead and then not listen to it immediately again.
