Day 44 - Bring Me To Life (Evanescence)

A new millennium brought a new sound, and it was called Evanescence. Kick-ass heavy rock with a lead vocalist whose sincerity was palpable. The year this song was all over the radio was another of the many definitive years in my life; it ushered in the first time I was a single adult in 13 years. Bring Me To Life represents that moment when all the weight on my shoulders finally lifted, despite the scary prospect of moving forward with no map or instructional guide on what the fuck to do. We all know how that worked itself out, but in the moment I was both adventurous and skeptical, free and frightened. And that’s the way this song makes me feel, even still.
