Day 42 - Hemorrhage In My Hand (Fuel) / Take A Picture (Filter)
The new millennium started and music had changed. The leftover angst of grunge evolved into rock ballads with angry overtones, featuring singers singing in a blistering shout to express their thoughts and feeling. Just like the rest of us. Two such songs are Hemorrhage (In My Hands) and Take A Picture. Each of these songs has undertones of love and loss, feelings about which I am all too familiar. I hear that being shouted and I am angry at what I used to believe in, how any kind of god could leave me behind after all the losses. I hear that being shouted and all I can think about it what kind of relationship I’d have with my dad if he were around now to see how well loved I am. Would he be on board or would it be a tense relationship? Something about the honesty of the vocals in both these songs is why I will always blast them any time I hear them on the radio. Or attempt them at karaoke.
