Day 8 - Alive And Kicking (Simple Minds)

Thankfully switching gears from yesterday’s sobfest, I present to you Alive And Kicking by Simple Minds, best known for their genre-defining hit from the film The Breakfast Club, Don’t You Forget About Me. This song was a Screamer of the Week on my favorite eighties radio station, W.L.I.R., and for good reason. This song kicks ass from the first few percussive beats to the last. This is a classic scenario and perhaps the best use of eighties synths with beautiful female vocal harmonies, together providing a backdrop for the alluring voice of lead singer Jim Kerr. I can honestly listen to this song over and over again. I know, duh.
