Significant Hoomans

Welcome to the new wave eighties, ripe with gritty synthesized dance club songs, brought to us (mostly) from Great Britain. Many bands ushered in this sound, but none as magnetic and kinetic as Yazoo, later shortened to Yaz, who were comprised of the voice (Alison Moyet) and the synths (Vince Clarke). Yaz broke open dance club barriers with songs that crossed the line from disco pop, and allowed a generation of kids to shake their asses to a new, different, better sound. From their groundbreaking debut album, Upstairs At Eric’s, come these two songs that pull you in and insist that you move along to the steady beat, and swoon along with the velvet that is the voice of Alison Moyet. To this day I don’t think there’s any club song as delicious as Don’t Go and Situation. Vince eventually went on to found Erasure and, if, you’ve been paying attention, you know how I feel about Erasure.
