Dina

There’s something about the puffy start of the song that sucks me in. It’s one of those songs that has convinced me I can sing karaoke. In my head, I hear the word quintessential when this song comes on, as, to me it defines the sound of the era so perfectly. It was that transition of M.T.V. to VH1, when both stations played music videos, but the ones on VH1 seemed to cater more to my aesthetic. Is the song good? Not really. Are the lyrics meaningful? Ask my cousin Dina about how the phrase ‘loving by proxy’ just basically unhinges her. But the overall sound of this song makes me feel something, and a lot of it.
